What to check before you choose an NDIS provider
Whoever you go with, these questions will save you trouble later.
- Are they registered? You can search any provider on the NDIS Commission's provider register.
- Do all workers hold a current NDIS Worker Screening clearance?
- Will you get a written service agreement that sets out the supports, prices and notice period?
- Who will actually turn up? Ask how many different workers you can expect in a normal week.
- How do they handle complaints, and do they tell you about the NDIS Commission as well?
- Is the vacancy real? A provider with a genuine room will let you visit it.
Why a Townsville-based team matters
Townsville is spread out. The drive from the Northern Beaches to Douglas can take half an hour, and the wet season and cyclone season, roughly November to April, add their own planning. A provider who runs things from Brisbane cannot fill a gap in a roster at short notice the way a local coordinator can.
Our office is in Burdell, minutes from the Northern Beaches home and a straight run down the highway to the rest of the city. When something changes at one of our houses, someone who knows the residents can be there the same day.
What we provide in Townsville
Supported independent living is the centre of what we do here, but residents and people living elsewhere in Townsville also use our other supports.
We only deliver supports within our NDIS registration. If you need something outside it, we'll say so and point you to someone who can help.
Changing to Seareal from another provider
Your current service agreement will have a notice period, often two weeks. Read it before you give notice so there's no gap in support. We can plan your start date to line up with the end of the old agreement. Our guide on how to change NDIS providers walks through it.
